A longtime client's slip-resistant flooring had seen better days. Years of heavy foot traffic and forklift use had worn down the original surface, reducing slip resistance and compromising the floor's protective qualities. They needed a full restoration — not just a topcoat, but a ground-up rebuild of the flooring system.
The Restoration Process
Our crew worked through this project methodically, with Phase 2 already scheduled for the following weekend:
- Surface grinding — ground down existing flooring and prepared all surfaces, including walls and curbs
- SaniCrete SL — installed 3/8" cementitious urethane where new footers were poured
- SaniCrete VR cove base — restored seamless wall-to-floor transitions throughout
- SaniCoat 200 epoxy topcoat — with Ultra Fresh antimicrobial additive for enhanced microbial protection
- Aluminum oxide broadcast — broadcast across all floor surfaces for enhanced slip resistance
- Double broadcast in high-traffic areas — extra aggregate in zones with the heaviest equipment and foot traffic
- Smooth finish on walls and cove base — easy-clean surface on vertical and transition areas
Why Antimicrobial Matters
The SaniCoat 200 topcoat on this project includes Ultra Fresh antimicrobial additive. This built-in antimicrobial protection inhibits the growth of bacteria, mold, and mildew on the floor surface between cleanings. It's not a replacement for proper sanitation — it's an additional layer of defense that works 24/7.
Double Broadcast for Maximum Slip Resistance
In areas where forklifts and heavy foot traffic are constant, standard slip resistance isn't enough. We applied a double broadcast of aluminum oxide aggregate in these high-traffic zones, creating an extra-durable, extra-grippy surface that maintains traction even under the toughest conditions.
The client was thrilled with the results — and Phase 2 was already on the calendar for the following weekend. That's how we know we're doing it right.
